R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas State Alliance of YMCAs are
  visiting Austin on February 11, 2015, to celebrate YMCA State
  Advocacy Day at the Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Representing the interests and concerns of the 27
  independent Ys across Texas, the Texas State Alliance of YMCAs
  works diligently to further the mission of the YMCA, which is to
  build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities through
  programs that develop healthy spirits, minds, and bodies; and
         WHEREAS, The alliance mobilizes staff, volunteers, and
  community leaders to advocate on behalf of local Ys; these
  institutions nurture children and promote youth development,
  healthy living, and social responsibility; at Ys across the state,
  more than 5,000 employees and nearly 50,000 volunteers serve over
  1.4 million Texans, including more than 638,000 children and teens;
  moreover, Texas Ys are a major provider of child care, and they give
  over $25 million in financial assistance and scholarships; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, members of the alliance travel to Austin
  to support the development of strong, caring communities and to
  encourage the state's leadership to adopt policies that will
  contribute to the health and well-being of all Texans; it is indeed
  fitting to recognize this noteworthy organization for its civic
  engagement and commitment to improving the quality of life
  throughout the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 11, 2015, as YMCA State
  Advocacy Day at the Capitol and extend to all those participating
  sincere best wishes for the future.
