R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A groundbreaking ceremony is taking place in El Paso
  for the Cardwell Collaborative, a new state-of-the-art biomedical
  research and technology commercialization center, on February 19,
  2015; and
         WHEREAS, The building is being developed by MCA Tech Park,
  Inc., under the flagship of the Medical Center of the Americas
  Foundation, and will be located at the entrance of the 440-acre MCA
  campus; once completed, the facility will be a research hub for the
  MCA subsidiary, RedSky, in addition to housing start-up firms in
  the health care sector and offering them access to resources and
  support needed to investigate and implement new technologies; and
         WHEREAS, Plans for the three-story, 60,000-square-foot
  building include a high-tech conference center, a center for
  research computing, incubator spaces, areas for collaboration, and
  a virtual receptionist that will greet visitors and provide
  information about the facility; the building is slated to open its
  doors in May 2016; and
         WHEREAS, This superb undertaking represents the commitment
  shared by city and industry leaders to innovation in the evolving
  field of medical science, and it will play a significant role in
  promoting economic opportunity and prosperity in the area; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the groundbreaking for the Cardwell
  Collaborative and extend to all those associated with this endeavor
  sincere appreciation for their support of this important
  development.
