R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
|
of La Maurice Fomby of Mount Pleasant who passed away on August 22, |
|
|
2014, at the age of 76; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This lifelong Texan was born in Mount Pleasant on |
|
|
February 3, 1938, to Roosevelt and Winnie Fomby; he graduated from |
|
|
Booker T. Washington High School in 1957 and went on to attend Wiley |
|
|
College; after working as a maintenance supervisor for Texas |
|
|
Utilities Mining Company for many years, he established his own |
|
|
business, Fomby A/C Repair; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Fomby enjoyed the love and |
|
|
support of his wife, Jessie; a father of four, La Marvin Fomby, |
|
|
Pamela Chism, Paula Hurndon, and the late James E. Dudley Jr., he |
|
|
was also the stepfather of four children, John, Eugenia, Salumah, |
|
|
and Nancy, and he experienced the joy of welcoming three more |
|
|
generations into his family; in addition, he was a member of the |
|
|
Sheppard Street Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, La Maurice Fomby led a life that was rich in the |
|
|
intangibles that matter most, and he is deeply missed by all those |
|
|
who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of La Maurice Fomby and |
|
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
|
Jessie Fomby; to his children, La Marvin Fomby, Pamela Chism and her |
|
|
husband, Melvin, and Paula Hurndon and her husband, Vincent; to his |
|
|
stepchildren, John Mathews and his wife, Sharon, Eugenia Walker and |
|
|
her husband, Dorriscell, Salumah Abdullah and her husband, |
|
|
Muhammad, and Nancy Gallon and her husband, Tommy; to his brother, |
|
|
Claude Fomby, and his wife, Lawrencetta; to his grandchildren, |
|
|
great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and to his |
|
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of La Maurice |
|
|
Fomby. |
