R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Dr. James Stewart Leeves of Naples on August 4, 2014, at
  the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, James Leeves was born in Dallas on October 9, 1924,
  to Elijah and Marion Leeves; a graduate of Naples High School and
  The University of Texas Medical School, he answered his nation's
  call to duty with service in the U.S. Army; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed physician was instrumental in the
  founding of David Granberry Memorial Hospital and was a cofounder
  of the East Texas Clinic; a member of the First United Methodist
  Church of Naples and the Springhill Cemetery Association, he was
  also a great supporter of education, and he was honored with the
  Pewitt Alumnus Award for his contributions to the Pewitt School,
  Education Foundation, and Alumni Center, which he played a leading
  role in establishing; he further served on the Pewitt School Board
  of Trustees and as the football squad's team doctor; and
         WHEREAS, Although Dr. Leeves is deeply missed, he leaves
  behind a legacy that will continue to resonate in his community for
  years to come, and he will long be fondly remembered by all those
  who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. James Stewart
  Leeves and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family:
  to his wife, Peggy Leeves; to his son, Jody Leeves and his wife,
  Jane; to his daughter, Jane Ann Leeves; to his grandchildren,
  Jessica and Joe Leeves; and to his other relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. James
  Leeves.
