R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Clifford H. Bartley of Lindale on November 23, 2014, at the |
|
age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, Clifford Bartley was born in Starrville on December |
|
24, 1934, to Clinton Harvey and Ada Mae Tinney Bartley; after |
|
graduating from Lindale High School in 1952, he played football for |
|
the Henderson County Junior College Cardinals before continuing his |
|
education at Midwestern State University; he also served his |
|
country with distinction in the U.S. Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Lindale, Mr. Bartley was an |
|
executive vice president of First Service Bank and a board member of |
|
Lindale National Bank, but his greatest legacy is his outstanding |
|
record of civic engagement; in addition to working on many city and |
|
school district committees, he also served on the board of the |
|
Lindale Economic Development Corporation and as president of the |
|
Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lindale Rotary Club, which |
|
recognized him as a Paul Harris Fellow; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bartley remained true to his high school alma |
|
mater as president of the Lindale High School athletic and band |
|
booster clubs, and he likewise served as president of the Lindale |
|
Baseball Association; active in the South Main Church of Christ, he |
|
benefited his fellow congregants as a Bible class teacher; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bartley was a loving husband to his wife, |
|
Willene, and he was the proud father of two children, Eric and |
|
Tonja; later in life, he was blessed with three grandchildren and |
|
five great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family and his community, |
|
Clifford Bartley made a meaningful difference in many lives, and |
|
his contributions will be fondly remembered for years to come; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifford H. Bartley |
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Willene Bartley; to his son, Eric Bartley, and his wife, |
|
Becky; to his daughter, Tonja Pinkerton, and her husband, Danny; to |
|
his brothers, Tommy Bartley and his wife, Carolyn, and Max Bartley; |
|
to his sister, Amy Kirkpatrick, and her husband, Edwin; to his |
|
grandchildren, Aleshia Ruehl, Brandon Pinkerton, and Clifton |
|
Bartley; to his great-grandchildren, Jordan Ruehl, William Ruehl, |
|
Natalie Hendley, Alayna Ruehl, and Jasek Pinkerton; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Clifford H. |
|
Bartley. |
