R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family, friends, and colleagues of Wise County
  Justice of the Peace Terri Lynn Johnson were greatly saddened by her
  untimely passing on April 26, 2014, at the age of 40; and
         WHEREAS, Terri Johnson was born in Fort Worth on October 29,
  1973, to Kenny Taylor and Carol Miller; she embarked on her career
  in public service in 1992, when she joined the Denton County
  Sheriff's Department as community relations director; after
  earning her peace officer's license, she taught Drug Abuse
  Resistance Education classes in Denton County schools and was
  honored as the 1996 DARE Officer of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Following her completion of a degree in criminal
  justice, Ms. Johnson took a part-time job at the local justice of
  the peace office; her rewarding experiences in that position later
  inspired her to run for justice of the peace for Precinct 2 of Wise
  County; she took office on January 1, 2007, and was reelected four
  years later, and in the course of her tenure, she earned the respect
  of her peers and the appreciation of the public; in addition to
  fulfilling her duties as justice of the peace, she served on the
  criminal justice and juvenile grant review boards of the North
  Central Texas Council of Governments and acted as secretary for the
  Texas Justice Court Judges Association; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan also played an active role in
  her community in other ways; she volunteered with the American
  Diabetes Association, taught for Junior Achievement, and served as
  a mentor for Teen Court and for the Decatur High School chapter of
  the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; moreover, she was a valued
  member of the congregation at First Baptist Church of Decatur; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Johnson and her husband, Craig, established a
  rewarding union that spanned 18 years, and the couple became the
  parents of two sons, Coy and Harlon; in her spare time, she invented
  and marketed a cleaner for horse tack, and she enjoyed baking,
  traveling, and shooting sporting clays; and
         WHEREAS, A caring wife and mother and an accomplished public
  official, Terri Johnson made a meaningful difference in the lives
  of her loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and her contributions
  will be remembered and admired for years to come; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judge Terri Lynn
  Johnson and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her husband, Craig Johnson; to her sons, Coy and Harlon Johnson; to
  her mother, Carol France and her husband, Garry; to her father,
  Kenny Taylor; to her grandfather, Garlon Taylor; to her brothers,
  Rowdy France and his wife, Debbie, and Cody France and his wife,
  Sarah; to her sister, Reka Ofner and her husband, Ron; to her uncle,
  Curt Miller and his wife, Ruthie; and to her other relatives and
  many friends; and, be it further
         R
  ESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Terri Lynn
  Johnson.
