R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Barbara Edson retired from the Midland County Public |
|
Library on January 30, 2015, drawing to a close a notable career as |
|
a librarian that has spanned four decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Oswego, New York, Ms. Edson studied |
|
education and fine arts at the State University of New York, and she |
|
moved to Midland in 1973; the following year, she joined the |
|
circulation department of the Midland library, and over the course |
|
of her exemplary 40-year tenure, she has distinguished herself in a |
|
variety of roles, including periodicals librarian and fine arts |
|
librarian; she is retiring as supervisor of the library's |
|
audiovisual and multimedia department; and |
|
WHEREAS, In her free time, this vibrant woman delights in the |
|
time she spends outdoors, gardening, and woodworking; she is also a |
|
pilot and a motorcycle rider, enthusiasms she shares with her |
|
husband, Allan; she owns four of the couple's five motorcycles, |
|
including a 1987 Harley-Davidson Sportster; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Edson's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the patrons of the |
|
Midland County Public Library while earning her the respect and |
|
admiration of her colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with pride |
|
on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter |
|
of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Barbara Edson on her retirement |
|
from the Midland County Public Library and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Edson as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
