R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Rev. James E. Nash of St. Paul Missionary Baptist
  Church in Houston has long worked for the betterment of his church
  and the Sunnyside community; and
         WHEREAS, Rev. Nash graduated from Jack Yates High School and
  attended Houston Community College and L. K. Williams Seminary; and
         WHEREAS, Rev. Nash served his country in the US Marine Corps
  where he was awarded a meritorious stripe in boot camp and was
  elevated to Corporal in six months; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the Baptist Ministers Association,
  Rev. Nash has humbly served as Pastor of St. Paul Missionary
  Baptist Church for thirty-seven years; and
         WHEREAS, Rev. Nash has spread the Lord's message through the
  airwaves by creating the television show "Sunnyside Community
  Voice" and speaking on the radio show "Am I My Brother's Keeper;"
  and
         WHEREAS, Following the tragic events resulting from
  Hurricane Katrina, Rev. Nash opened his church's doors to provide
  shelter to those displaced; he served as the vice president of the
  local Red Cross; and was sent to Washington, D.C. to speak on
  collaboration of churches during the Katrina aftermath; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his endeavors, Rev. Nash has enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife of 54 years, Stella Nash; they are the
  proud parents of six children, the grandparents to seventeen, and
  loving great grandparents to nine; and
         WHEREAS, Rev. James E. Nash has devoted his life to God,
  spreading His Word, and loving his family and community, and he is
  most deserving of the proud esteem in which he is held; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Rev. James E. Nash for his distinguished
  service as Pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist and his commitment
  to the advancement of the community of Sunnyside and extend to him
  heartfelt best wishes for continued success and fulfillment in all
  his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Rev. Nash as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
