R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud members of the Chaparral Women's Club
  celebrated the 45th anniversary of the club's founding in 2014; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated residents of Williamson County came
  together in 1969 to form this community service group, which was
  originally an affiliate of the Junior Women's Club; during 45 years
  of continuous service, the Chaparral Women's Club has grown from
  its original 14 founders to more than 50 active members who
  volunteer their time and talents to a variety of projects and
  organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Many of the club's efforts are centered around
  helping area children; members have worked with the Round Rock ISD
  Partners in Education Foundation on its School Supply Drive,
  assisted the Coats for Kids project with collection and
  distribution, and coordinated an ice cream social for children in
  the Wonders and Worries program; other beneficiaries of their
  energy and dedication include the Round Rock Area Serving Center,
  Handbags for Hope, and the Williamson County Regional Animal
  Shelter; and
         WHEREAS, In the past year alone, the Chaparral Women's Club
  has awarded grants to more than 20 local nonprofit organizations,
  among which are the Texas Advocacy Project, the Literacy Council of
  Williamson County, and Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County;
  furthermore, the club provides four graduating high school seniors
  with academic scholarships annually; since 2000, the total value of
  its contributions to deserving groups and students in the community
  has exceeded $500,000; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly a half-century, the public-spirited
  members of the Chaparral Women's Club have performed works of
  lasting benefit to Williamson County, and it is a privilege to join
  in celebrating this special milestone in the group's history; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 45th anniversary of the founding
  of the Chaparral Women's Club of Williamson County and extend to the
  group's members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
