R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The untimely death of Lance Andre Lemons of Desoto
  on February 5, 2015, at the age of 27, has brought profound sorrow
  to his family and friends; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Lee and Rhonda Lemons, Lance Lemons
  attended Fellowship Christian Academy as a child, and when he was in
  the sixth grade, he told his mother he wanted to be baptized; he
  continued his spiritual journey at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship
  Church and Restoration Community Church; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lemons was involved in Jack and Jill of America
  as a youngster; a gifted athlete, he received his black belt in tae
  kwon do from the American Karate Academy in 2000, and he
  participated in a number of sports, including youth soccer and
  baseball; as a student at Bishop Dunne Catholic School, he ran track
  and was a member of the basketball and football teams; he also
  played for the Dallas Mustang and Dirty Dozen AAU Basketball teams;
  and
         WHEREAS, In his senior year, Mr. Lemons was selected to
  participate in the Tom Hillary DFW All-Star Classic football game;
  he received a scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Pine
  Bluff and played wide receiver on its football team, and he later
  joined the Texas Longhorns semi-pro football team; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic young Texan completed his studies in
  criminal justice at The University of Texas at Commerce, and he was
  involved in the Student Government Association, the National
  Association of University Women, and the Upward Bound program;
  moreover, he volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of America; his
  strong work ethic and compassion for at-risk youth led him to a
  fulfilling career as a Dallas County juvenile detention officer,
  and he gave generously of his time and talents to Kids Across
  America and the Salvation Army; and
         WHEREAS, On March 17, 2012, Mr. Lemons and KiShore Hawkins
  became the proud parents of a beloved son, Landin Mikah Lemons; and
         WHEREAS, Lance Lemons was sustained by a strong faith from an
  early age, and although his days were far too few, memories of his
  kindness and devotion remain to comfort and inspire all who were
  fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lance Andre Lemons and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his son,
  Landin Mikah Lemons; to his parents, Lee and Rhonda Lemons; to his
  sister, Randi Lemons; to his aunts and uncles, Pauline, Jimmy,
  Ursula, Latherio, Lentreise, Christopher, Doriat, Kem, Aaron,
  Lovell, Terri, Lamar, Geneva, Charles, Oneda, Ollie Mae, Larry,
  David, and Billie; to his best friend, Michael Cooper; and to his
  many other friends and relatives; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lance
  Andre Lemons.
