R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Savannah Solis of Tyler has demonstrated
  exceptional civic spirit and kindness at an early age through her
  efforts to personally thank members of law enforcement; and
         WHEREAS, A fourth-grader at Kissam Elementary School,
  10-year-old Savannah was distressed to learn of the deaths of two
  New York Police Department officers in the line of duty; she
  resolved to honor their courage and sacrifice by sending notes of
  appreciation to other members of the department, and she spent four
  weeks writing 200 cards for members of the NYPD; in addition, she
  sent letters of condolence to the widows of the slain officers; and
         WHEREAS, Savannah subsequently began working to show her
  gratitude to other law enforcement officers, and within a month,
  she had composed over 500 letters and delivered them to police
  departments in Tyler, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and numerous other
  Texas cities, and she sent her thanks to officers in sheriff's
  departments and Department of Public Safety offices as well; and
         WHEREAS, In January 2015, Savannah received a Citizenship
  Award from the Sons of the American Revolution; she has also been
  presented with the Bulldog Pride Award by the Chapel Hill
  Independent School District, and the NYPD Sergeants Benevolent
  Association has proposed naming her an honorary sergeant at its
  annual Heroism Awards dinner; and
         WHEREAS, We are all indebted to the brave men and women who
  protect our communities, and by expressing her appreciation to
  hundreds of law enforcement officers, Savannah Solis has set an
  inspiring example for citizens of every age; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Savannah Solis for her outstanding
  endeavors in support of law enforcement personnel and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Savannah as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
