H.R. No. 494

	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association
	are gathering in Austin for the organization's 62nd annual
	convention being held April 6 to 8, 2015; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in 1953, TRTA is the nation's largest
	association for retired public school and higher education
	employees; with more than 70,000 members, it advocates for
	retirees' pension benefits and other issues that relate to their
	health and well-being; and
	WHEREAS, The influence of an educator extends far beyond the
	years spent in the classroom, and those women and men who have
	devoted their careers to teaching have had a lasting impact in the
	lives of countless students and have helped further the prosperity
	of the Lone Star State; and
	WHEREAS, Over the course of more than six decades, the Texas
	Retired Teachers Association has demonstrated an unwavering
	commitment to its members and to the betterment of our state
	education system, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity
	to honor each person who is contributing to the work of this notable
	organization; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
	Legislature hereby recognize April 8, 2015, as Retired Teachers Day
	at the State Capitol and extend to all those attending the 2015
	Texas Retired Teachers Association convention sincere best wishes
	for an enjoyable and memorable event.
