R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dinah Weable of Waxahachie greatly benefited her |
|
fellow citizens through her 22 years of exemplary service as |
|
constituent director of Texas House District 10; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Ms. Weable worked tirelessly |
|
to assist residents with their concerns, and her skill and |
|
dedication were rivaled only by her remarkable knowledge of the |
|
community; she provided invaluable support to State Representative |
|
Jim Pitts in his work in behalf of the people of Texas, and he has |
|
gratefully acknowledged that she played a vital part in his every |
|
accomplishment as a member of the Texas Legislature; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Weable has also made a positive difference in |
|
many lives as a health advocate; diagnosed with breast cancer in |
|
2002, she inspired others with her grace and courage while |
|
successfully battling the disease, and she subsequently became |
|
involved in efforts to raise awareness and promote wellness; her |
|
husband, Ray Weable, organized a survivors celebration in her honor |
|
in 2004, and they subsequently created a nonprofit organization, |
|
the Dinah Weable Breast Cancer Survivors Event, which raises funds |
|
for mammograms for those in need; every year, she hosts the Pink |
|
Ribbons and Heart Luncheon, and the proceeds have paid for some 700 |
|
cancer screenings; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Camden, Arkansas, Ms. Weable graduated from |
|
Camden High School, where she and her future husband were |
|
sweethearts; she went on to attend Louisiana Tech University, and |
|
she married in 1960; after moving to Waxahachie in 1985, she worked |
|
for the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce for six years; she is an |
|
active member of First United Methodist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dinah Weable set the highest standards of excellence |
|
as a public servant for more than two decades, and her contributions |
|
to her community and to the Lone Star State have earned the deep |
|
respect and admiration of all who have the privilege of knowing her; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dinah Weable on her retirement as |
|
constituent director of Texas House District 10 and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Weable as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
