R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Residents of El Cenizo are gathering in Austin on
  February 18, 2015, on the occasion of El Cenizo Day at the State
  Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Situated along the banks of the Rio Grande, the
  community was incorporated in 1989 and has a population of nearly
  3,500 people; it is the third largest town in Webb County and is
  under the leadership of Raul Lorenzo Reyes, who was first elected
  mayor in 2004, when he was only 21; and
         WHEREAS, The people of El Cenizo are known for their ability
  to pull together to meet common goals, and in recent years, a police
  department, a municipal court, and the city's first fire station
  have all been established; and
         WHEREAS, The town also upgraded much of its infrastructure,
  including paving streets, installing sidewalks and storm drains,
  and constructing a municipal park; new energy-efficient homes were
  built for elderly or disabled residents, and law enforcement
  efforts have been strengthened; and
         WHEREAS, El Cenizo has distinguished itself as a community of
  concerned and committed people whose hard work, solidarity, and
  dedication to positive growth and development are indeed deserving
  of commendation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 18, 2015, as El Cenizo Day at
  the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere
  best wishes for an informative and enjoyable visit to Austin.
