R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 25th Annual Dripping Springs Wild Game Dinner is |
|
|
taking place on February 21, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Held each year since 1991, the Wild Game Dinner is |
|
|
organized by the United Methodist Men from Dripping Springs United |
|
|
Methodist Church; over the past quarter-century, the dinner has |
|
|
evolved into one of the largest philanthropic events in the area and |
|
|
has raised more than $500,000 to date for a wide array of |
|
|
organizations and initiatives in Central Texas; proceeds have |
|
|
funded numerous scholarships for local high school students, and |
|
|
other beneficiaries include such worthwhile groups as the Friends |
|
|
Foundation, the Hill Country Senior Citizens Center, the Boy Scouts |
|
|
of America, the Dripping Springs Adult Education Program, and Camp |
|
|
Breakaway; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This much anticipated gathering provides a welcome |
|
|
opportunity for hundreds of area residents to gather in a fun and |
|
|
festive atmosphere; attendees enjoy a hearty meal of wild game |
|
|
donated by community members, as well as live music, an auction, and |
|
|
a grand prize raffle; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Dripping Springs Wild Game Dinner promotes |
|
|
fellowship between friends and neighbors while making significant |
|
|
contributions to the betterment of the community, and this |
|
|
exceptional fund-raiser is indeed deserving of special |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th Annual Dripping Springs |
|
|
Wild Game Dinner and extend to all those associated with the event |
|
|
sincere best wishes for a rewarding and enjoyable get-together; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organizers of the dinner as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
