R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of Oakleigh D. Smith were
  deeply saddened by his death on January 12, 2014, at the age of 90;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 12, 1923,
  Mr. Smith was the son of Dwight and Jewel Smith; he came of age
  during World War II and proudly served his country in the United
  States Army Air Corps; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Smith graduated from Oklahoma State University
  and went on to complete a master's degree in chemical engineering at
  The University of Texas at Austin; he became a sales manager for
  Purex Corporation and was employed by the company until his
  retirement; before returning to Oklahoma, he resided in Conroe; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Smith shared a fulfilling relationship with his
  wife, Carolyn Glomsett Smith, and he was the devoted father of three
  children, Donald Smith, Susan L. Kerr, and Gena Overby; and
         WHEREAS, Although Oakleigh Smith will be deeply missed,
  cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in
  the hearts of his loved ones; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Oakleigh D. Smith and
  extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Oakleigh
  Smith.
