R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Association of Texas Professional
  Educators are visiting the State Capitol on February 23, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The largest independent educators' association in
  the nation, the Association of Texas Professional Educators is
  owned and governed by its members, including all types of public
  school employees, college students and teacher trainees, retired
  educators, and members of the public; and
         WHEREAS, More than 5,000 Texans help lead the ATPE at the
  local, regional, and state levels, and a full-time staff supports
  the organization's work; members are provided with protection,
  advocacy, and resources that assist them in ensuring that Texas'
  schoolchildren receive the best possible education; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to the professional rights of their
  members, the association encourages them to be politically active
  leaders and to communicate with legislators about current
  educational issues and conditions; and
         WHEREAS, By engaging the education community in the
  legislative process, the Association of Texas Professional
  Educators is working to improve our schools and is making a tangible
  difference in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 23, 2015, as Association of
  Texas Professional Educators Day at the State Capitol and extend to
  all those in attendance sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and
  memorable visit.
