R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Respected speech pathologist Carmen Pagan is being |
|
|
honored as a 2015 Pillar of Success by The University of Texas-Pan |
|
|
American Alumni Association at its Alumni Ball on February 27, |
|
|
2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the UTPA Alumni Association celebrates a |
|
|
select group of distinguished alumni for their professional |
|
|
excellence and for their service to the community and their alma |
|
|
mater; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Carmen Pagan earned her bachelor's and master's |
|
|
degrees in communication disorders from UTPA in 1987 and 1989, |
|
|
respectively, and over the past two decades, she has achieved a |
|
|
sterling reputation with her clinical work as a bilingual |
|
|
speech-language pathologist, specializing in the treatment of |
|
|
children with neuromuscular disorders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This accomplished woman is a co-owner and executive |
|
|
board member of Milestones Therapeutic Associates; she holds |
|
|
membership in both the American and Texas Speech-Language-Hearing |
|
|
Associations and has chaired the certification committee of the |
|
|
Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Pagan has also given generously of her time and |
|
|
talents as a member of several state advisory panels; she is |
|
|
currently serving as chair of the Governor's Commission for Women, |
|
|
a group to which she was first appointed by Governor Rick Perry in |
|
|
2005, and she has served on the State Health Services Council; |
|
|
engaged in constructive endeavors at the local level as well, she is |
|
|
a sustaining member of the Junior League of McAllen; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Benefiting from the solid educational foundation |
|
|
that she received at UTPA, Carmen Pagan has made a positive |
|
|
difference in the lives of countless children and demonstrated her |
|
|
commitment to her community and her state, and she is indeed a |
|
|
worthy recipient of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Carmen Pagan on her selection as a |
|
|
2015 Pillar of Success by The University of Texas-Pan American |
|
|
Alumni Association and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Pagan as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
