R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Many proud residents of the city of Irving are
  joining together in Austin on February 25, 2015, to commemorate
  City of Irving Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, The City of Irving, founded by J. O. Schulze and
  Otis Brown in 1903, was incorporated more than 100 years ago on
  April 14, 1914; as part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the city
  saw rapid growth early on, and steady expansion of both residential
  and commercial areas continued to add to its prosperity over the
  years; and
         WHEREAS, A community of more than 228,000 people, Irving is
  home to Las Colinas, the largest office park and master-planned
  community in the area, and also hosts eight Fortune 1000 global
  headquarters and 19 Blue Ribbon small businesses as recognized by
  the United States Chamber of Commerce; Dallas/Fort Worth
  International Airport, which lies partially within city limits,
  connects businesses and residents to the rest of the world and
  further boosts the thriving economy of the area; five school
  districts serve the city's children, and the Irving Independent
  School District has been on the College Board's Advanced Placement
  District Honor Roll for several years; and
         WHEREAS, During the past decade, Irving has succeeded in
  consistently reducing its crime rate, setting new record lows each
  year, and in 2011, it was recognized by Bloomberg Businessweek
  magazine as one of America's 50 Best Cities; in 2014, the
  ZipRecruiter online hiring referral service included the city as
  one of the top 20 fastest growing job markets, and Irving has twice
  been on the Dallas Business Journal's list of Healthiest Employers
  in North Texas; with one of the lowest municipal tax rates in the
  DFW Metroplex and increasing popularity among young professionals,
  the city expects to continue its development in order to best serve
  the goals of residents and businesses alike; and
         WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich heritage as they work for an
  even brighter future, the citizens and civic and business leaders
  of Irving may indeed take pride in their community's ongoing
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 25, 2015, as City of Irving
  Day at the State Capitol and extend best wishes to the members of
  the visiting delegation for an enjoyable and memorable stay in
  Austin.
