R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Sandra Clement is being honored with a Y Women
  in Careers Award by the YWCA in Corpus Christi on March 5, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi YWCA has been recognizing
  accomplished women in the community through this awards program for
  the past 35 years; those chosen for the distinction have all
  achieved a notable degree of success in their respective fields,
  and as women who demonstrate integrity, a ready willingness to take
  on new challenges, and a commitment to excellence, they serve as
  outstanding role models for young girls, whose empowerment is a
  crucial part of the YWCA mission; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Sandra Clement, principal of Moody High School,
  is a fitting recipient of this prestigious accolade; for nearly two
  decades, she has worked as a teacher, counselor, assistant
  principal, and district coordinator for special programs; in July
  2012, she began her tenure as principal at Moody High School, and
  she has guided the school to many impressive accomplishments; the
  school's graduation rate is now above average for the state, and in
  2014, Moody was one of the top high schools in the national STEM
  program, receiving an Excellence in Action award; and
         WHEREAS, This lifelong Texan has dedicated herself to
  ensuring all of her students know they can succeed, no matter what
  challenges they may face; for her efforts, Dr. Clement was named
  the 2014 Texas PTA State Secondary Principal of the Year, and in
  2012, she was recognized as Administrator of the Year by the
  Association of Texas Professional Educators; furthermore, she
  currently serves on the boards of the Texas Association of
  Secondary School Principals and the Children's Advocacy Center of
  the Coastal Bend; and
         WHEREAS, Through the skill and determination she brings to
  all her efforts, Dr. Sandra Clement has earned the esteem of her
  peers and made contributions to her community that will resonate
  far into the future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Sandra Clement on receiving a
  2015 Y Women in Careers Award from the YWCA of Corpus Christi and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Clement as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
