R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lena Coleman Wilson is being honored with the Y
  Women in Careers Lifetime Achievement Award by the YWCA in Corpus
  Christi on March 5, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi YWCA has been recognizing
  accomplished women in the community through this awards program for
  the past 35 years, and this year marks only the fifth time a
  Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented; the few chosen for
  this distinction have spent their lives working to better their
  communities and have achieved notable success in their professional
  fields; as women who demonstrate integrity, a ready willingness to
  take on new challenges, and a commitment to excellence, they serve
  as outstanding role models for young girls, whose empowerment is a
  crucial part of the YWCA mission; and
         WHEREAS, Lena Coleman Wilson, executive director of the LC
  Foundation, is a fitting recipient of the Lifetime Achievement
  Award; a resident of Corpus Christi since 1976, Mrs. Wilson began
  her career in social services and then started her own company,
  Lena's Business Management and Consultants; in 1996, she founded
  the LC Foundation, which works to help people with disabilities
  find permanent jobs; the organization has also provided more than
  half a million dollars to fund the Lena Coleman Wilson Hope
  Scholarship for eligible students attending Texas A&M--Corpus
  Christi; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her professional activities,
  Mrs. Wilson has been a member of a number of community
  organizations, which further highlights her devotion to the region;
  she served with the United Way and the League of Women Voters, and
  she is past president of the local NAACP chapter; in 2008, she was
  recognized by the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as
  Outstanding Business Woman of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Through the skill and determination she brings to
  all her efforts, Lena Coleman Wilson has earned the esteem of her
  peers and made contributions to her community that will resonate
  far into the future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Lena Coleman Wilson on receiving
  the 2015 Y Women in Careers Lifetime Achievement Award from the YWCA
  of Corpus Christi and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Wilson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
