R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Josiah Atkinson of West Hardin High School in
  Saratoga took top honors at the 2015 University Interscholastic
  League State Congress Tournament; and
         WHEREAS, This UIL meet brought students together from across
  Texas to compete in a mock legislative assembly modeled after the
  United States Congress; contestants drafted legislation,
  researched bills and resolutions, caucused in committees, and
  followed parliamentary procedure during discussion and voting on a
  number of measures; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to achieving outstanding success in the
  2A category of the tournament, Mr. Atkinson has previously
  qualified for UIL state competition in three academic events; this
  talented 15-year-old has further distinguished himself as a member
  of the National Forensic League, the football and basketball teams,
  and the cast of the One-Act Play; and
         WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment, Josiah
  Atkinson has achieved great success, and he may indeed look forward
  to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Josiah Atkinson on earning first
  place in the 2015 UIL State Congress Tournament and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Atkinson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
