R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Bedichek Middle School in Austin earned designation
  as an AVID National Demonstration School on February 4, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Advancement Via Individual Determination, or AVID,
  is a college readiness program designed to increase the academic
  performance of underperforming students and make college
  enrollment more attainable; participating students learn
  organizational and study skills, such as the Cornell note-taking
  style, and practice critical thinking and other techniques that
  promote academic success; and
         WHEREAS, Bedichek Middle School has seen continuing positive
  results since implementing the AVID program; as one of 140
  demonstration schools in the nation, Bedichek will serve as an
  example of how the system works on a day-to-day basis and will be
  visited by educators from other schools who wish to put the AVID
  program into action; the school has been qualified to demonstrate
  AVID strategies for three years, the highest level of certification
  a campus can receive; and
         WHEREAS, The Bedichek AVID program is coordinated by Mariza
  Rebmann and Danielle Loftin and benefits from the outstanding
  support of the school's faculty and staff, led by Principal Daniel
  Diehl; and
         WHEREAS, Through its implementation of the AVID program,
  Bedichek Middle School has demonstrated its strong commitment to
  academic excellence and college readiness, and the campus's
  accomplishments are making a positive and lasting difference in the
  lives of its students; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bedichek Middle School on earning
  designation as an AVID National Demonstration School and extend to
  its students, faculty, and staff sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
