R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Pioneers Youth Leadership Program is
  contributing immeasurably to the Texas Hill Country and South Texas
  regions by working to develop the community leaders of tomorrow;
  and
         WHEREAS, Created to help encourage in high school students
  the desire and potential to effect meaningful change within their
  communities, this notable initiative cultivates positive character
  traits in participants and engages their critical thinking skills
  through training and experience; during the 2014-2015 school year,
  145 students are taking part in the program, which operates in nine
  school districts across Dimmit, Edwards, Kimble, Mason, Real,
  Travis, and Uvalde Counties; and
         WHEREAS, The Pioneers Youth Leadership Program supports
  learning through action, and on January 21 and 22, 2015, these fine
  young Texans and their director, Real County Judge Garry Merritt,
  visited the Capitol for their State Leadership Forum; in addition
  to meeting with elected officials, students attended workshops with
  staff members from the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Department
  of Agriculture, and the Texas Water Development Board to gain a
  greater understanding of public issues of importance to rural
  communities; and
         WHEREAS, Through its efforts to build a more informed and
  involved citizenry, the Pioneers Youth Leadership Program is
  helping to create a brighter and more promising future for the Lone
  Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Pioneers Youth Leadership Program for
  its work to promote community service and personal growth among
  young Texans and extend to all those affiliated with the group
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
