R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Kay Waggoner, superintendent of the Richardson |
|
|
Independent School District, was named one of the Outstanding Women |
|
|
of Today by Altrusa Richardson on October 31, 2014, and this |
|
|
achievement indeed merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Altrusa International, Inc., is a nonprofit |
|
|
organization dedicated to the betterment of local communities |
|
|
through leadership, partnership, and service; the Altrusa |
|
|
Richardson club hosts an annual luncheon to recognize honorees from |
|
|
six categories as Outstanding Women of Today; recipients of the |
|
|
award come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, but they |
|
|
have all shown dedication, integrity, and a commitment to |
|
|
excellence in their careers and communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Dr. Waggoner has |
|
|
devoted herself to public education; in addition to working as a |
|
|
teacher, she has spent 26 years in administrative positions, most |
|
|
recently serving as the superintendent of Richardson ISD since |
|
|
2010; active in a number of professional organizations, she has |
|
|
been a member of the governing board of the American Association of |
|
|
School Administrators and worked with the Texas School Alliance; |
|
|
she currently serves as first vice chair of the University |
|
|
Interscholastic League Legislative Council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Waggoner earned her bachelor's and master's |
|
|
degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University and went on to |
|
|
attain her doctorate as part of the Cooperative Superintendency |
|
|
Program at The University of Texas at Austin; in all her endeavors, |
|
|
she enjoys the love and support of her husband of 34 years, Rick; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas is fortunate to have capable and engaged |
|
|
educators like Dr. Kay Waggoner, whose contributions have made a |
|
|
positive difference in the lives of countless Richardson ISD |
|
|
students; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Kay Waggoner on being named one |
|
|
of the 2014 Outstanding Women of Today by Altrusa Richardson and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Waggoner as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
