R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Dallas native Tim Brown is being inducted into the
  Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2015, and this
  honor provides fitting recognition for an athlete who proved
  himself one of the most gifted players of his era; and
         WHEREAS, Born on July 22, 1966, in Dallas, Mr. Brown first
  earned widespread acclaim while a student at Woodrow Wilson High
  School, where he was a standout on the school's football and track
  and field teams; he was recruited by a number of prestigious college
  football programs, and he ultimately chose to attend the University
  of Notre Dame; he excelled as a wide receiver and kick returner for
  the Fighting Irish, compiling a school-record 5,024 all-purpose
  yards and twice earning All-American honors; moreover, he capped
  his senior year by being chosen the winner of the 1987 Heisman
  Trophy, becoming the first wide receiver ever to earn the
  prestigious award; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was selected by the Los Angeles Raiders
  with the sixth overall pick in the 1988 NFL Draft; he quickly made
  his mark in the professional ranks, leading the league in kickoff
  returns, return yards, and yards per return average during his
  rookie campaign; he spent the next 15 seasons in silver and black,
  breaking the franchise record for games played and earning the
  moniker "Mr. Raider" while helping the team to compile six playoff
  appearances and a berth in the Super Bowl; he spent his final NFL
  season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004 before signing a
  one-day contract with the Raiders the following year so that he
  could retire as a member of his longtime team; and
         WHEREAS, One of the finest wideouts to ever play the game,
  Mr. Brown's 100 career touchdown catches rank seventh in NFL
  history, and his 1,094 receptions and 14,934 receiving yards also
  put him in the top 10 among all-time league performers; in addition,
  he was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times, and he was named to the
  NFL's All-Decade Team for the 1990s; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a fine family, Mr. Brown draws
  inspiration from the love and support of his wife, Sherice, and his
  children, Taylor, Timon, Tamar, and Timothy; and
         WHEREAS, Tim Brown will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall
  of Fame in August 2015 in Canton, Ohio, and he may reflect with
  pride on his many significant accomplishments as he takes his
  rightful place alongside the game's greatest players; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tim Brown on his induction into the
  Pro Football Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
