R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Leadership Southwest Class of 2015
  are visiting the State Capitol on March 18, 2015, to gain further
  insight about state government; and
         WHEREAS, An initiative of the communities of southwest Dallas
  County, Leadership Southwest had 23 participants in its inaugural
  class of 1985, and over the ensuing 30 years it has graduated more
  than 1,000 civic-minded individuals; the organization is a
  cooperative effort sponsored by the Cedar Hill, DeSoto,
  Duncanville, Lancaster, and Oak Cliff Chambers of Commerce that
  works to develop tomorrow's leaders and inspire the spirit of
  activism for the public good; and
         WHEREAS, The nine-month program involves discussions with
  area leaders on critical issues facing the community and seminars
  on topics such as education, law enforcement, the arts, government,
  economic growth, health, and transportation; many participants go
  on to serve their fellow Texans on the boards of schools, hospitals,
  and other institutions or through elected offices; and
         WHEREAS, One highlight of the program is a legislative day
  that is held in collaboration with the Best Southwest Partnership,
  an organization representing 12 cities and many area chambers of
  commerce, school districts, and businesses that work together to
  encourage regional prosperity; and
         WHEREAS, Endeavoring to foster a more informed and involved
  citizenry and to develop new leaders, Leadership Southwest is
  helping build a brighter future for the Lone Star State; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 18, 2015, as Leadership
  Southwest Day at the State Capitol and extend to all participants
  sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable stay in
  Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Leadership Southwest as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
