R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The New Room, home of Feed Lake Highlands food |
|
|
distribution program, works to offer valuable services for area |
|
|
residents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Part of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, the |
|
|
New Room provides residents who are food-insecure with food and |
|
|
educational opportunities; in collaboration with Crossroads |
|
|
Community Services and other organizations, the New Room hosts |
|
|
classes on a variety of topics, including financial literacy, |
|
|
emotional well-being, and nutrition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through Feed Lake Highlands, the New Room |
|
|
distributes food as part of the North Texas Food Bank; because of |
|
|
the efforts and dedication of its outstanding volunteers, Feed Lake |
|
|
Highlands is able to serve nearly 300 citizens each month; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With the worthy goals of creating a beneficial |
|
|
social and learning environment and helping to alleviate hunger, |
|
|
the New Room makes valuable contributions in behalf of the citizens |
|
|
of the Lake Highlands region, and everyone involved indeed merits |
|
|
special recognition for their achievements and service; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the New Room for its community service |
|
|
and extend to all those who participate in the programs of the |
|
|
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the New Room as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
