R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution
  Educators is holding its 7th annual Best Practices Conference in
  San Antonio from March 8 to 11, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution
  Educators was established in order to help educators provide
  quality educational opportunities at Hispanic serving institutions
  (HSI) of higher learning that have a full-time undergraduate
  enrollment that is 25 percent Hispanic or higher; and
         WHEREAS, The AHSIE Best Practices convention brings together
  teachers and administrators from HSIs to network with other
  educators and share their ideas and experience; the conference
  features sessions on a variety of topics, including high impact
  practices for student success, effective project management,
  emerging research at HSIs, and grant funding; and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of alliance president David
  Trujillo, the 2015 conference is being held on the campus of the
  University of the Incarnate Word, and it is being hosted by
  co-chairs Dr. David A. Ortiz, director of the university's Graduate
  Support Center, and Dr. Kevin B. Vichcales, dean of the Office of
  Research and Graduate Studies; and
         WHEREAS, This unique conference enables HSI educators to
  share their experience, research, and insight as they work together
  to build a better future and brighter opportunities for Hispanic
  students at colleges and universities across the nation; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2015 Best Practices Conference
  of the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution Educators and
  extend to the conference organizers and attendees sincere best
  wishes for a successful event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the alliance as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
