R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
  generosity of Linda Marie Kacal of Pearland, who passed away on July
  31, 2013, at the age of 66; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Bill and Ruth Russo, the former
  Linda Russo married her longtime sweetheart, Jerry Kacal, in 1966;
  the couple enrolled at Texas A&M University the following year, and
  Ms. Kacal was named Miss Congeniality; resourceful and
  industrious, she opened a beauty salon and helped put her husband
  through college and law school; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Kacal became the devoted mother of a daughter,
  Amy, and son, Kyle; she frequently opened her beautifully decorated
  home to their friends, as well as to exchange students, and she
  served on the PTA at her children's and later her grandchildren's
  schools; sustained by a deep faith, she was a member of the Women of
  the Word Bible study group, and she volunteered extensively for
  St. Helen Catholic Church and numerous charitable organizations,
  including Meals on Wheels, Methodist Hospital, the Charity Guild,
  and the Pearland Lioness Club; she was also an active member of the
  Pearland Republican Women; and
         WHEREAS, Caring and thoughtful, Ms. Kacal had a radiant smile
  for all, and she set an example for others with her positive
  outlook; she made everyone she encountered feel special, and she
  was always ready to share a word of encouragement; during her
  six-month battle with cancer, she demonstrated great strength and
  courage, and she is one of the namesakes of the KK125 Ovarian Cancer
  Research Foundation, cofounded by her son, State Representative
  Kyle Kacal; and
         WHEREAS, Linda Kacal lived a rich and purposeful life
  centered around her family, her faith, and her community, and she
  will long be remembered with deep affection by all who were
  privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Linda Marie Kacal
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  husband of 47 years, Jerry Kacal; to her son, Kyle Kacal, and his
  wife, Marci; to her daughter, Amy Coiner, and her husband, Thomas;
  to her brother, Bill Russo Jr., and his wife, Pam; to her sisters,
  Gertrude Pizzo and her husband, Johnny, and Paula Getz and her
  husband, Mike; to her grandchildren, Carter and Kendall Kacal and
  Isabelle, Chase, and Garrett Coiner; and to her many other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linda Marie
  Kacal.
