R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kenwoo Kim, a Lewisville High School student, was
  named the state champion in the 2014-15 American Legion Oratorical
  Contest at an event held in Brenham on February 16, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1938, the American Legion Oratorical Contest
  has encouraged high school students to develop a deeper knowledge
  and appreciation for the United States Constitution; by taking part
  in an academic speaking challenge, participants learn about the
  origins of our laws and about the rights, privileges, and
  responsibilities that are fundamental to American citizenship, and
  the experience also fosters the development of skills in leadership
  and public speaking; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Kim advanced to the state-level challenge after
  taking top honors in his district, and his most recent victory
  qualifies him to take part in the national championship in
  Indianapolis in April; he has benefited from the support and
  mentorship of his coaches, Sally Squibb and Liana Massengale, who
  have accompanied him during the competition; and
         WHEREAS, Through his remarkable showing, Kenwoo Kim has
  distinguished himself as a young man of impressive intellect,
  ability, and dedication, and he may indeed look forward to a bright
  and rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kenwoo Kim on his exceptional
  achievement in the 2014-15 American Legion Oratorical Contest and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Kim as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
