R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Steven Brown of Texas A&M University-Corpus
  Christi was named a winner at the 2014 University Council of
  Educational Administration Film Festival in Washington, D.C., in
  November 2014; and
         WHEREAS, This unique film festival features short films by
  faculty members and graduate students in educational
  administration; these five-minute videos examine various issues
  and aspects of educational leadership, scholarship, and policy; in
  2014, 14 winners were selected; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Brown's award-winning film is a five-minute
  video clip of his stage play Brown: Thurgood Marshall and Earl
  Warren--A Conversation, which was performed in Topeka, Kansas, in
  September 2014, when Dr. Brown was named the 2014 Oliver L. Brown
  Visiting Scholar for Diversity Issues by the Brown Foundation and
  Washburn University; and
         WHEREAS, Now an associate professor of educational
  leadership in the College of Education at A&M-Corpus Christi,
  Dr. Brown worked for many years as a broadcaster for Wisconsin
  Public Radio, National Public Radio, and CBS Television; he and his
  writing partner Michael Ullstrup have written more than 90 plays
  and radio dramas, including And on the Eighth Day: Bryan v. Darrow,
  about the Scopes trial, and A Fireside Chat: A Conversation with
  Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Brown's creativity and innovative approach to
  education are truly unique, and he may indeed take great pride in
  this prestigious recognition from his professional peers; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Steven Brown for receiving an
  award at the 2014 University Council of Educational Administration
  Film Festival and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
