  H.R. No. 787

R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The football team of Allen Academy in Bryan brought
  the 2014 season to a triumphant close by winning the Texas Christian
  Athletic League Six-Man Division 1 state championship on November
  29 at Benson Field in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, The Rams claimed the title with a 62-8 victory over
  Phoenix Charter School of Greenville, completing a perfect 13-0
  season and capturing the school's first TCAL state football crown;
  Allen's explosive offense proved too much for its opponent to
  handle in the championship contest, as the Rams scored 34
  unanswered points in the first quarter and closed out the game with
  a second quarter touchdown that invoked the 45-point "mercy rule";
  and
         WHEREAS, Nine Allen Academy players were selected to the TCAL
  All-State Team for their exceptional performances in 2014, a group
  that included Carter Kacal, Cody Vega, Clay de Jong, Chris Hassell,
  Tyler Scott, Grant Rhoads, Gareth Prescott, Caleb Phillips, and
  Eric Vega; in their march to the state title, the Rams also received
  valuable contributions from the other members of the roster: Isaiah
  Savala, Sam Dawson, Caleb Hogan, Phillip Briner, Diego Pocurull,
  and Robin Li; and
         WHEREAS, These talented athletes received essential guidance
  from head coach Jason Jolly, who led the Rams to the state
  semifinals in 2012 and 2013 and who was chosen as TCAL Coach of the
  Year for his success in 2014; the team also benefited from the
  knowledgeable advice of assistant coaches Trey Moore, Nick
  Stromeyer, Patrick Lorden, and Kyle Taylor; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the members of the Allen Academy Rams
  football team will treasure the memory of this accomplishment for
  many years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Allen Academy football team on
  winning the 2014 TCAL Six-Man Division 1 state championship and
  commend the team's players, coaches, and staff for a job well done;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
