R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the North Side High School Mariachi |
|
|
Espuelas de Plata in Fort Worth have brought great honor to their |
|
|
school and community through their exemplary record of success; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For five consecutive years, the NSHS mariachi |
|
|
ensemble has advanced to the finals of the Mexican American School |
|
|
Board Members Association All-State Mariachi Competition, where it |
|
|
earned second place in the Class 5A Division in 2014; in addition, |
|
|
the band captured consecutive titles in the high school division at |
|
|
the Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque in New Mexico in 2013 and |
|
|
2014 and took third place at the 2013 Festival of International |
|
|
Books and Arts Mariachi Competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding group has further distinguished |
|
|
itself with its performance at Carnegie Hall in New York in June |
|
|
2014, and it was showcased at the Las Cruces International Mariachi |
|
|
Conference in 2011 and 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Guided by directors Ramon Nino III and Wendy |
|
|
Martinez, Mariachi Espuelas de Plata consists of Uriel Arechiga, |
|
|
Victor Estrada, Fernando Flores, Kimberly Gutierrez, Melissa |
|
|
Jeronimo, Joel Ramirez, Mariela Ramirez, Michael Reyes, Brianna |
|
|
Rodriguez, Gustavo Rodriguez, Donaldo Rubio, Jonathan Rubio, |
|
|
Jessica Salas, Jennifer Sanchez, Juan Triana, Yadira Triana, and |
|
|
Joan Vargas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The talented and hardworking musicians of the NSHS |
|
|
Mariachi Espuelas de Plata have proven themselves a premier |
|
|
ensemble, and they may take justifiable pride in their myriad |
|
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the North Side High |
|
|
School Mariachi Espuelas de Plata on their many accomplishments and |
|
|
extend to all those associated with the group sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
