R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Houston |
|
hosted a "Love Day Celebration" on February 15, 2015, to honor Faye |
|
Marie Johnson for her 50 years of service to the congregation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson joined Lyons Unity MBC in 1965, when |
|
her husband, the Reverend Oliver Charlton Johnson Sr., answered the |
|
call to serve as its pastor, a position he held until his death in |
|
2003; in her five decades as a member of the church, nearly four of |
|
them spent as first lady, Sister Johnson has devoted herself to |
|
supporting its vital ministries, and her steadfast faith has |
|
inspired many; and |
|
WHEREAS, A source of wisdom and strength, Sister Johnson |
|
continues to enrich the lives of her fellow congregants, and her |
|
immeasurable contributions in behalf of Lyons Unity MBC have earned |
|
her their lasting respect and admiration; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Faye Marie Johnson for her 50 years of |
|
dedicated service to Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
