R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Collin Clark is retiring as superintendent of the |
|
Cameron Independent School District at the end of the 2014-2015 |
|
school year, drawing to a close an outstanding career in public |
|
education that has spanned three and a half decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, After graduating from Texas A&M |
|
University--Commerce in 1980, Mr. Clark began his career in |
|
education as a teacher and coach with the Sulphur Springs school |
|
district; in 1986, he began teaching in Community ISD, where he |
|
later transitioned to administration as a middle school principal; |
|
he returned to TAMU--Commerce to obtain his master's degree in |
|
education administration, a goal that he accomplished in 1992, and |
|
he went on to serve as a junior high principal in Celeste ISD from |
|
1996 until 2001, when he was appointed superintendent of the |
|
district; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Clark joined Cameron ISD as superintendent of |
|
schools in April 2011; in his time with the district, he has |
|
overseen a number of significant developments, including the |
|
implementation of enhanced safety measures and emergency planning |
|
and a greater emphasis on technology as an innovative classroom |
|
tool; in addition, he worked alongside the board of trustees to |
|
facilitate the improvement of district athletic facilities, and he |
|
helped secure the passage of a bond proposal funding the |
|
construction of a new baseball field and new tennis courts at C. H. |
|
Yoe High School and the renovation of the school's track and |
|
football field; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Clark enjoys the love and |
|
encouragement of his wife, Dana, and their three children; as he |
|
prepares for his retirement, he is looking forward to spending more |
|
time with his loved ones, including his parents, who reside in |
|
Celeste; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Collin Clark has led the way |
|
in fostering a supportive educational environment that helps |
|
students develop the skills and character needed to build |
|
fulfilling and productive lives, and he may reflect with pride on a |
|
job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Collin Clark on his retirement as |
|
superintendent of the Cameron Independent School District and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Clark as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
