R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Virginia DuPuy of Waco is receiving the Silver Eagle
  Award from the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America on
  April 7, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is given to a citizen who
  embodies the ideals of the Boy Scouts, sets an inspiring example of
  achievement and leadership, and makes a positive difference in the
  community; an influential civic leader, Virginia DuPuy has been a
  powerful voice for education for many years; she strongly believes
  in the crucial role schooling and early childhood development play
  in addressing poverty and long-term economic development, and her
  efforts have helped pave the way for many invaluable local
  programs; and
         WHEREAS, Elected in 2005, Mrs. DuPuy ably served her fellow
  citizens during her five-year tenure as Waco's mayor; she is
  currently the chief executive officer of DuPuy Oxygen and the
  executive director of the Greater Waco Community Education
  Alliance, a group committed to creating, leading, and implementing
  plans that ensure all area students reach their full academic
  potential; in addition, she acts as a trustee for the Cooper
  Foundation, which distributes grants in support of the arts,
  education, health care, public safety, and other important causes;
  and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her tireless work to enhance
  quality of life for area residents, she has had two awards named in
  her honor, the Virginia DuPuy Partnership Excellence Award,
  administered by the Greater Waco Community Education Alliance, and
  the Waco Independent School District's Virginia DuPuy First-Year
  Teacher Award; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has given freely of her time and
  talents for the benefit of her fellow residents, and her dedication
  and generosity are an inspiration to all Texans; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Virginia DuPuy on her receipt of
  the Silver Eagle Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. DuPuy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
