R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kayla Marie Atkinson of Livingston inspired many |
|
people with her sincere tribute to the peace officers of Polk County |
|
on February 6, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although she is only nine years old, Kayla has |
|
demonstrated exceptional compassion for the men and women who work |
|
to keep her community safe; inspired by a YouTube video titled "Dear |
|
Officer, I See You," she decided to cut construction paper into |
|
heart shapes, write messages of thanks and encouragement on each, |
|
and present them to officers at the Polk County Sheriff's |
|
Department; and |
|
WHEREAS, Livingston Police Chief Dennis Clifton, Polk County |
|
Sheriff Ken Hammack, and officers, detectives, constables, and game |
|
wardens from across the area were present to receive Kayla's sweet |
|
handiwork; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her creativity and generosity, Kayla |
|
Atkinson brought good cheer to local law enforcement officers, and |
|
in so doing, she has touched the lives of many and set an example of |
|
kindness and appreciation to which people of all ages may aspire; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize Kayla Marie Atkinson for her |
|
thoughtful deed and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Kayla as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
