R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life has drawn to a close with
  the passing of broadcaster and newspaperman Leonard Arthur Jones
  Jr. of Fort Worth on February 8, 2015, at the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, Art Jones was born on September 15, 1941, in
  Freeport, New York, to Leonard A. Jones Sr. and Martha Smith Jones;
  at the age of five, he moved with his family to Uvalde, where he
  graduated from high school in 1958; and
         WHEREAS, The following year, Mr. Jones joined station KCLE in
  Cleburne, beginning a career of more than two decades in radio
  broadcasting; during that time, he was a well-known on-air
  personality at KIOA in Des Moines, Iowa, and KCMO in Kansas City,
  Missouri; in 1977, he joined KFJZ in Fort Worth as creative
  director; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jones subsequently started HTM Productions,
  which made radio and television commercials, and he also wrote for
  the trade journal of the International Mobile Air Conditioning
  Association; at the age of 60, he switched careers and bought the
  Northwest Tarrant County Times Record, serving as the paper's
  publisher until his retirement in 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Art Jones and his wife, Joan, shared a rewarding
  marriage that spanned 39 years, until his death; he was the father
  of three children, Leonard Jones III, Terrice Jones, and the late
  Leslie Jones, and he was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 15
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband, a doting parent and grandparent,
  and a dynamic professional, Art Jones lived a life that was varied
  and rich in accomplishments, and he leaves behind a legacy that will
  continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Leonard Arthur Jones
  Jr. and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Joan Jones; to his son, Leonard Arthur Jones III and his
  wife, Marie; to his daughter, Terrice Jones and her husband,
  William; to his brother, Harry Jones and his wife, Carole; to his
  grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leonard
  Arthur Jones Jr.
