R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Jack McLaughlin, a senior at Calallen High School in |
|
|
Corpus Christi, achieved great distinction at the University |
|
|
Interscholastic League Swimming & Diving State Meet, held at the |
|
|
Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin on February 20 |
|
|
and 21, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Making his fourth consecutive appearance in the |
|
|
state competition, Mr. McLaughlin recorded a time of 1 minute, |
|
|
39.85 seconds, in the 5A 200-yard freestyle event to take home the |
|
|
silver medal; he followed that impressive performance with another |
|
|
fine showing in the 100-yard butterfly race, finishing in second |
|
|
place with a time of 50.49 seconds to capture his second medal of |
|
|
the meet; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gifted young Texan will continue his career as |
|
|
a student-athlete at Texas Christian University, where he will |
|
|
compete as a member of the Horned Frogs swimming and diving program; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through hard work and superb athletic ability, Jack |
|
|
McLaughlin has earned a place among the top high school swimmers in |
|
|
the Lone Star State, and he is a source of great pride to his school |
|
|
and his community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jack McLaughlin on winning two |
|
|
silver medals at the 2015 UIL Swimming & Diving State Meet and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. McLaughlin as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
