R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Athens High School Pride of the |
|
|
Hornets Band distinguished themselves with their fine performances |
|
|
at the University Interscholastic League Region 21 Solo and |
|
|
Ensemble Contest, held on February 7, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During the event, 46 Athens High band members earned |
|
|
first division ratings and collected a total of 54 medals; in |
|
|
addition, 32 students qualified for the state solo and ensemble |
|
|
contest, which will be held in May; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ably led by directors Rusty Lay, Stephen Morman, |
|
|
Gehrig Blankenship, and Kimberly Beard, the student musicians of |
|
|
the Pride of the Hornets Band have put in countless hours of |
|
|
practice to hone their skills; this marks the eighth consecutive |
|
|
year the band has been recognized as a UIL |
|
|
sweepstakes-award-winning program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Athens High School band members have |
|
|
demonstrated exceptional ability and unwavering dedication to |
|
|
excellence, and these fine young Texans may indeed take justifiable |
|
|
pride in their achievements at the regional competition; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Athens High |
|
|
School Pride of the Hornets Band on their success at the UIL Region |
|
|
21 Solo and Ensemble Contest and extend to each student sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
