R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to a close with the
  passing of Julian Vargas Ruiz of Robstown on February 15, 2015, at
  the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was born in Brooks County on
  December 19, 1920, to Manuel Garcia and Manuela Vargas Ruiz;
  Mr. Ruiz was a member of America's Greatest Generation who bravely
  served this nation in the army during World War II; returning to
  civilian life, he went on to pursue a successful career before his
  retirement from the Corpus Christi Army Depot; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Ruiz and his wife, Teresa Martinez Ruiz, enjoyed
  a rewarding marriage that spanned 38 years, and together they took
  great pride in a family that included a daughter, Melinda, five
  sons, Carlos, Saul, Hector, David, and Rueben, and many
  grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Ruiz found inspiration in his abiding faith, and
  his interest in ranching and a variety of other vocations further
  added to the richness of his life; and
         WHEREAS, Cherished for his sincerity, his kindness, and his
  innumerable skills, Julian Vargas Ruiz will be sorely missed, and
  his memory will long endure in the hearts of all those who were
  privileged to share in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Julian Vargas Ruiz and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Teresa Martinez Ruiz; to his sons, Carlos and Saul Ruiz and Hector,
  David, and Rueben Martinez; to his daughter, Melinda Kraeer; to his
  10 grandsons and 9 granddaughters; to his eight great-grandchildren;
  and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Julian
  Vargas Ruiz.
