R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Jake Galant of Dallas has been named one of the top
  youth volunteers in Texas as part of the 2015 Prudential Spirit of
  Community Awards; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by Prudential Financial and the National
  Association of Secondary School Principals, the Spirit of Community
  Awards honor young people in middle and high school who have made an
  extraordinary commitment to community service; and
         WHEREAS, A junior at St. Mark's School of Texas, Mr. Galant
  was named a Spirit of Community Distinguished Finalist for serving
  as director of TeraByte, a program of weeklong summer camps where
  children study video game design; in addition to gaining important
  problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, participants learn
  the basics of computer programming and interactive storytelling;
  Mr. Galant trains and manages the volunteer counselors for the
  camp, which devotes its revenue to providing its classes for free to
  low-income students; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated
  remarkable initiative and determination in the pursuit of a
  selfless goal, and he is a source of inspiration to all who are
  privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jake Galant on being named a
  Distinguished Finalist in the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community
  Awards program and extend to him sincere best wishes in all his
  future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Galant as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
