R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Section 27, Article I, Texas Constitution, states |
|
"The citizens shall have the right, in a peaceable manner, |
|
to . . . apply to those invested with the powers of government for |
|
redress of grievances or other purposes, by petition, address or |
|
remonstrance"; and |
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Texas House of Representatives |
|
are committed to the right of the citizens of Texas to apply to |
|
those invested with the powers of government for redress of |
|
grievances; and |
|
WHEREAS, The current e-mail addresses for the members and |
|
staff of the Texas House of Representatives are long, complex, and |
|
difficult to relay verbally, making it more difficult for the |
|
citizens of Texas to contact their elected representatives; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby request the House Committee on Administration to |
|
make available to the members and staff of the Texas House of |
|
Representatives e-mail addresses with the top-level domain ".gov" |
|
and with a domain name substantially similar to "@texashouse.gov"; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That if the committee decides to make such e-mail |
|
addresses available, the committee decline to use the domain names |
|
"@house.tx.gov" and "@house.texas.gov"; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That if the committee decides to make such e-mail |
|
addresses available, such e-mail addresses be made available not |
|
later than January 1, 2018, and the current e-mail addresses of the |
|
house be withdrawn from service not later than December 31, 2018. |
