R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jacqueline Chaparro has made a positive difference |
|
|
in the lives of area children in need by serving as a Court |
|
|
Appointed Special Advocate volunteer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, CASA is a nonprofit organization that relies on |
|
|
trained volunteers to act as representatives for children who are |
|
|
removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect; through the |
|
|
program, advocates are assigned to gather information and make |
|
|
recommendations that assist judges in reaching decisions that serve |
|
|
the best interests of each child; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The dedicated men and women of CASA provide children |
|
|
with a crucial voice in the often overburdened judicial and |
|
|
protective services systems and ensure that they receive the |
|
|
attention they need until they are placed in a permanent home; in |
|
|
many cases, advocates offer a rare source of stability to young |
|
|
people coping with a traumatic and uncertain time in their lives; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The safety and well-being of children are of deep |
|
|
concern to all citizens, and by devoting considerable time and |
|
|
effort to fulfill a critical need in the community, Jacqueline |
|
|
Chaparro has set an admirable example to which others may aspire; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Jacqueline Chaparro for serving as a |
|
|
Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer and extend to this |
|
|
caring Texan sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Jacqueline Chaparro as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
