R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family, friends, and countless other individuals |
|
whose lives she touched were greatly saddened by the passing of |
|
Dorothy Maude Heffner Murphy on February 18, 2015, at the age of 93; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on August 23, 1921, in Rogers, Arkansas, |
|
Dorothy Murphy was a caring mother, grandmother, and |
|
great-grandmother whose love, faith, courage, compassion, |
|
sacrifice, patriotism, and spirited humor inspired many across the |
|
state; she was especially well known and admired in the communities |
|
of Wimberley, Beaumont, Silsbee, Houston, Austin, Georgetown, |
|
Fulshear, and Wylie, where she resided over the course of her life; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Meema," she is remembered |
|
for her dedication to family, artistic talent, skills as an office |
|
manager, activities with the Altar Guild, and service as a |
|
Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wimberley, |
|
where she and her husband, the late Richard Aloysius Murphy, |
|
devoted much time and support; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dorothy Murphy radiated the finest virtues of |
|
selfless care and concern for others through her consistent |
|
guidance, tender words of compassion, unconditional love for |
|
family, and heartfelt gratitude for her many blessings; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dorothy Maude |
|
Heffner Murphy and extend sincere condolences to all those who |
|
mourn her passing, including her 8 children, 20 grandchildren, 33 |
|
great-grandchildren, and 70 nieces and nephews; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy |
|
Maude Heffner Murphy. |
