R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Hub Phestival takes place each spring in Pharr, |
|
|
providing area residents and visitors alike with a range of fun and |
|
|
enjoyable activities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One such attraction is the popular HubPhest |
|
|
Cook-Off, a Texas State Barbecue Championship Competition |
|
|
sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association; |
|
|
established in 2009, this spirited culinary contest draws pit |
|
|
masters from Pharr and wide who strive to create the tastiest |
|
|
barbecue in several different categories; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Another highlight of this multifaceted celebration |
|
|
is the festival stage, which hosts a variety of talented |
|
|
performers, including local school groups; in addition, the |
|
|
gathering includes a carnival, a food court, Pharr Nature Day |
|
|
exhibits, and the South Texas Margarita Showdown; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The HubPhest Cook-Off offers a Texas-style friendly |
|
|
but competitive atmosphere, and attendees are sure to enjoy |
|
|
themselves at this highly anticipated event; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize the HubPhest Cook-Off and extend to |
|
|
all those involved sincere best wishes for a memorable Phestival. |
