R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. Marva T. Dixon of Grand Prairie is being
  inducted into the African American Education Archives and History
  Program Hall of Fame on April 18, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Engaged in the field of education for more than four
  decades, Dr. Dixon retired as executive director of innovation and
  support for the Grand Prairie Independent School District in 2011;
  she began her career teaching elementary school in Durham, North
  Carolina, and joined Grand Prairie ISD as an eighth-grade math
  teacher in 1981; subsequently, she served as assistant principal of
  Bonham Elementary School and as principal of Johnson and Dalworth
  Elementary Schools; for eight years, she led general curriculum
  services in the special education department, and she was then
  named director of innovation and support; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Dixon has also taught courses in educational
  leadership and special programs at Texas Christian University; she
  has served on national, state, and regional commissions and task
  forces, and she is the author of the guidebook The Power of the 5 Ps:
  What Every Educator Needs to Know; named 1981 Teacher of the Year
  for Jackson Middle School, she has received numerous other
  accolades over the years, including the UTA Educational Leadership
  Dream Conceiver Award and multiple honors from the Grand Prairie
  branch of the NAACP; and
         WHEREAS, This accomplished educator earned bachelor's
  degrees from North Carolina Central University and the University
  of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master's degree from NCCU, and a
  doctorate in curriculum and instruction and educational leadership
  from the University of North Texas; today, she provides extensive
  support to schools and educators as the chief executive officer of
  Dixon and Associates Consulting Services; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Marva
  Dixon has shown an unwavering commitment to meeting the educational
  needs of every student, and she may indeed take pride in her myriad
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Marva T. Dixon on her
  induction into the African American Education Archives and History
  Program Hall of Fame and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Dixon as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
