R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Woodworkers Club of El Paso have |
|
made a positive difference in the community, and their efforts are |
|
indeed deserving of recognition; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1985, the Woodworkers Club of El Paso is a |
|
nonprofit organization that promotes the instruction and |
|
improvement of woodworking skills in El Paso County through |
|
classes, public demonstrations, and one-on-one interaction; club |
|
members contribute their time and talents in support of a wide range |
|
of worthwhile organizations and causes in the area, including the |
|
Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, Toys for Tots, |
|
the Ronald McDonald House, the Child Crisis Center, and Operation |
|
Santa Claus; and |
|
WHEREAS, The group's recent charitable endeavors also |
|
include its work with the Little Free Library initiative, a book |
|
exchange program that encourages literacy in El Paso County; |
|
volunteers from the Woodworkers Club have designed and constructed |
|
more than 75 Little Free Library boxes for placement in Vinton and |
|
other parts of the greater El Paso area, enabling participants to |
|
share and borrow books; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their passion for the craft of woodworking, |
|
the members of the El Paso Woodworkers Club have greatly benefited |
|
their fellow citizens, and all those associated with the |
|
organization may take justifiable pride in their many |
|
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the Woodworkers Club of El Paso and extend |
|
to the club's members sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
