WHEREAS, Since 1953, the 100 Club, headquartered in Houston,
has demonstrated unwavering support to Texas law enforcement
officers and firefighters and their families; and
WHEREAS, This nonprofit organization was initially founded
to provide financial assistance to the dependents of Houston police
officers who died in the line of duty, and it drew its name from the
initial group of 100 people who contributed $100 each to fund the
initiative; through the years, the club has expanded its scope to
offer benefits to the families of firefighters, institutional
personnel with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and
commissioned personnel with the Texas Department of Public Safety,

Commission; today, the 100 Club includes a membership of more than

WHEREAS, The 100 Club also provides area law enforcement

million in benefits, equipment, and education scholarships; and
WHEREAS, For more than six decades, the 100 Club has honored
